Netanya has one of the largest French-speaking Jewish communities in Israel, and the city's kosher dining scene reflects that — refined, varied, and far better than the tourist average. With more than fifty kosher-supervised restaurants in town, picking the right one matters. Here is the shortlist we share with guests at Blue Sea Angels, organised by what you actually want for the evening.
How to read kosher in Netanya
A few practical points before the list:
- "Kosher" certification in Israel is granted by local rabbinical authorities; in Netanya the Rabbanut runs the standard hashgacha. Many restaurants also hold mehadrin (stricter) certification.
- Meat vs dairy: kosher restaurants are either one or the other, never both at the same time. If you want a steak and a dessert with cream, you'll go to two different places.
- Shabbat: most strictly kosher restaurants close from Friday afternoon to Saturday evening. A few hotel restaurants stay open. Plan ahead.
- Reservations: in season, the seafront restaurants fill up. Book a day or two ahead, especially for parties of 4+.
Meat restaurants we recommend
El Gaucho — the seafront classic
Argentinian-style steakhouse on the Netanya promenade, part of a respected Israeli chain. Generous cuts, excellent grilled mains, and one of the best al fresco settings in town — you eat with the Mediterranean directly in your line of sight. Pricier than average, but the quality is consistent and the service is sharp. Our usual recommendation for special-occasion dinners.
Red Burger Bar — beachfront, casual, fun
An American-style burger joint, kosher-certified, sitting right on the seafront with proper outdoor seating. Burgers are real-deal: thick patties, brioche buns, and a long beer list. A great option for families with teenagers, casual dinners after the beach, or when nobody wants to dress up. Quick service, view included.
BP Kosher Bistro — neighbourhood favourite
BP is a small, energetic kosher bistro that locals quietly champion. The cooking is bistronomic — modern Israeli with French and Mediterranean accents — and the room has the vibe of a restaurant that takes itself seriously without being precious. Excellent for couples and small groups, less so for big tables.
Dairy and fish (when you want lighter)
Breado — Netanya's beloved dairy spot
Often described as Netanya's finest dairy restaurant. Breado doubles as an artisan bakery and a sit-down restaurant, with great salads, pastas, fish dishes and a strong vegetarian and vegan offering. Daytime atmosphere is lovely; the bread alone is worth the trip. A safe, classy lunch.
Hotel rooftop dining
For a special-occasion dairy or fish dinner with a view, the rooftop and high-floor restaurants of Netanya's seafront hotels — including the well-known restaurant on the 15th floor of the VERT Hotel — give you Mediterranean views from above the cliff. Worth checking what's open during your dates, and reserving by phone.
Casual, takeaway and delivery
Some nights you don't want to go out, you just want excellent food on the terrace. Netanya is well covered:
- Pizzerias: several kosher pizzerias around the city centre and the promenade deliver to most apartments.
- Falafel and shawarma: classics around Independence Square and Stamper Street, fast and excellent value.
- Sushi: a number of kosher sushi places deliver in 30–45 minutes.
- Apps: Wolt and 10bis cover Netanya well, with kosher filters that actually work.
One of the underrated joys of Blue Sea Angels is the dining table for eight on the terrace — order a few dishes from the local kosher places, set the table, and you have a feast above the sea for half the price of a restaurant.

Honourable mentions and how to discover more
Netanya has dozens of kosher places we couldn't fit into one article — from local Yemenite spots to Moroccan family kitchens to small dairy cafés on side streets. Tools we use ourselves:
- The Rabbanut Netanya kosher list (in Hebrew), updated regularly.
- Wolt's kosher filter for delivery.
- Asking the host. We live here. Send us a message when you book; we'll send you a current shortlist tailored to your tastes.
What to know before you go
- Tipping: 10–12% is standard if not already included.
- Card payment: universally accepted, no need for cash.
- Hebrew menus: most seafront places have English (and often French) menus. Just ask.
- Kids: Israeli restaurants are very child-friendly; don't worry about bringing the kids anywhere on this list.
